Capital

Capital flows and token valuation, measured on the same axis.

Two questions investors ask and no venue answers about itself: where is the capital going (TVL, value secured by each chain's bridges, stablecoin float, open interest) and what does the market pay for a dollar of protocol fees (price to fees, price to sales, float, fee trend against the token). Every row uses the same public sources and the same windows, so chains and tokens can be read against each other.

As of 2026-09-30, Base secures the most bridged value at $8.23B; TRON took in the most stablecoins over 30 days at $1.84B; Pons has the lowest price to fees at 0.202x of 67 tokens; Kalshi holds the most prediction-market open interest at $1.05B.

A dash with a letter, like -a, means the column does not apply to this row, and the letter says why. a: source chain, not a bridge destination. b: sovereign L1, not in the bridged cohort. c: DeFiLlama publishes no stablecoin float for this chain. A plain n/a is a different thing: the feed carries no value for this row on this run.

  • TVL is the value locked in DeFi contracts on the chain today, a level in dollars; the rank follows it, then stablecoin float, then bridged value when a chain has neither.
  • TVL is DeFiLlama's DeFi TVL and bridged value is L2Beat's value secured, two different measures of two different things; a chain can rank high on one and low on the other. Net stables 30d is a flow and carries a sign, the other columns are levels and do not. Values under $1K are DeFiLlama zeros for chains it does not track, not measured amounts.
  • The table does not say where the capital came from or whether it stays: a stablecoin inflow can be one issuer's mint, a bridged value can move with the price of the assets locked, and an L1 has no bridged value to report.

A dash with a letter, like -a, means the column does not apply to this row, and the letter says why. a: the venue publishes no open interest to the perp cohort harness. b: the venue publishes no open interest to the perp cohort harness, so volume over open interest is undefined. A plain n/a is a different thing: the feed carries no value for this row on this run.

Open interest and 24h volume as each venue's own API reports them, through the perp cohort harness, the same figures the perps hub shows. Turnover is bench 271's ratio of 24-hour averages of those two gauges, so it will not divide exactly into the two columns beside it, which are the latest read. Centralised venues are out; Polymarket and Kalshi sit in the prediction-market table rather than twice on one page.

A dash with a letter, like -a, means the column does not apply to this row, and the letter says why. a: the series steps more than 2x inside the window: a change in what the venue reports, not a 7-day move. A plain n/a is a different thing: the feed carries no value for this row on this run.

Open interest, 24h volume and turnover all from bench 277, so turnover is this table's volume over this table's open interest.

Bench pm-open-interest

  • Open interest is the notional of positions open at the last read: for perp DEXes as each venue's own API reports it through the perp cohort harness, the same figure the perps hub shows, and for prediction markets from Polymarket, Kalshi and the venues' own endpoints through bench 277. Turnover next to it is 24h volume over open interest: how many times a venue traded its whole book in a day.
  • Open interest is a level and turnover is the ratio that makes it readable: two venues can hold the same open interest with one recycling it several times a day and the other holding it for a week. Turnover is read from bench 271, which divides 24-hour averages of the same two gauges, so it does not divide exactly into two columns showing the latest read. DefiLlama's open-interest overview, which bench 265 publishes per protocol, reads differently from the venues on most rows and is not what these columns show.
  • The table does not say who holds the positions, how leveraged they are, or how much of the open interest is one market or one wallet. A high turnover is not proof of wash trading: incentive programs, maker rebates and short-horizon retail flow raise it too, and the highest row on the table is a venue whose positions are held for under an hour.

How to read the two tabs

Follow the capital.TVL is a level: what sits in DeFi contracts on the chain today. Bridged value is the part of a chain's value secured that arrived from another chain; the "7d vs L2 median" column is its weekly move minus the median move of every L2Beat project above $200M, with both numbers under it, so a chain gaining ground on its peers stands out from a market-wide move. Stablecoin net flow is the 30-day change in pegged dollars circulating on the chain: dollars appear on a chain when somebody mints or bridges them there, so it is the closest public reading of where capital is actually moving. A muted value is a chain outside the bench's ranked cohort, shown from the daily history and left out of the leaders and counts. Open interest shows where leveraged positions and prediction bets sit.

Valuation divergences.Price to fees is market cap over the last 30 days of fees annualized; price to sales uses the protocol's own share of those fees. Each token is read against the fee-weighted median of its category, and the "fees up, token down" badge marks the rows where four things hold at once: fees grew more than 20% against the prior 30 days, the token fell more than 10% over the same days, the P/F sits below the category median, and the category holds at least 5 ranked protocols. The block at the top of the tab lists the five with the largest fee growth; the mirror badge marks the opposite. Neither is a recommendation: fees can grow for one month, a token can fall for reasons the fee line does not see, and a low float means most of the supply is still to come.

Why those numbers. Both legs have to clear the cohort's own noise or the badge means nothing. The median 30-day fee growth across the ranked protocols was +21%, so a row at or under 20% grew no faster than the median protocol that month. Twenty of the ranked tokens, the flat middle of the field, moved less than 10% in either direction over 30 days, so a move inside that band is not a direction. And a median over two protocols is a comparison with one other protocol, so a category under 5 ranked members has its vs-category cell marked not applicable instead of carrying a ratio. Every threshold is checkable from the Fees MoM, Token 30d and Category columns in the table itself.

Reading each signal. Under the divergence table, each of the two signals says in three lines what it means on the numbers in the row, what would falsify it, and what to check next. The falsifier is the part that matters: a month of fee growth can be one incentive program and a month of fee decline can be a quiet category, so the reading names what to look at before treating either as a trend. None of it is a recommendation, and every claim in it is checkable from a column on this page or a page it names.

Empty cells say which kind of empty they are.A dash carrying a small letter is a column that does not apply to that row, and the legend under the table spells out why: Ethereum is the chain the bridges start from rather than a destination, a sovereign L1 has no host chain to bridge from, Circle runs no CCTP domain there, DeFiLlama publishes no fee adapter for the chain. A plain "n/a" is the other thing entirely, and it means here what it means on every other page of this site: the feed should carry a value for that row and does not. A muted value is a chain outside a bench's ranked cohort, read from the daily history and left out of the leaders and the counts.

Under each table, three lines say how to read its main column, where it misleads, and what it does not say.

Sources and method

DeFiLlama for protocol fees and revenue (dailyFees, dailyRevenue per adapter), chain TVL, DEX volume and stablecoin circulating per chain. Windows are 30 closed UTC days, annualized as 30-day sum times 365/30.

L2Beatfor value secured per scaling chain, split into native, canonical and external, and its 7-day change; the cohort is the OCB chain registry intersected with L2Beat's scaling summary.

CoinGecko for market cap, fully diluted valuation, circulating and total supply and the 30-day price change. Polymarket and Kalshi APIs for prediction-market open interest, DeFiLlama TVL for venues that publish none.

Each perp venue's own APIthrough the perp cohort harness, for open interest and 24-hour traded notional both. That column used to read DefiLlama's open-interest overview through bench 265, and it was changed on 29 September 2026 for two reasons: the two disagreed by half on the largest row (Hyperliquid at $8.6B against the venue's own $12.8B) and bench 265's cohort is token-gated, so venues without a ranked token had no row at all. Turnover is bench 271, which divides 24-hour averages of the same two gauges, so it does not divide exactly into columns showing the latest read; it is read from the bench rather than recomputed here because one ratio must not have two values on this site.

Not measured here.Token unlock schedules (no free source publishes them; float and its 90-day change are the closest public proxy), bridge volumes other than the ones OpenChainBench reads itself (DeFiLlama's bridge endpoints are paid), and any figure a venue reports about itself without a public trail. Every number on this page is reproducible from the URLs above and released under CC BY 4.0; the rows of this page are one JSON payload at /api/capital (cached five minutes, the same gating as the page), and the daily history is at valuation/history.json and chains/history.json.

Frequently asked questions

How is the stablecoin flow leader picked, and who leads this month?
TRON: its pegged-USD float grew by $1.84B over the last 30 days (+2.0%), the largest move in the 26-chain cohort DeFiLlama tracks above $100M of float.
How is the lowest price to fees read against its category median?
Pons has the lowest price to fees at 0.202x: its market cap is 0.202x the fees its protocol earned over the last 30 days annualized, against a Launchpad median of 2.21x. Low is not a verdict: a token can trade at a low multiple because the market expects the fees to fall, or because most of its supply is still locked.
What does the fees up, token down badge mean?
Four things at once: the protocol's 30-day fees grew more than 20% against the prior 30 days, its token fell more than 10% over the same days, its price to fees sits below its category median, and the category holds at least 5 ranked protocols. 1 of 67 tokens match today, Moonwell among them. The two size thresholds keep a flat token and a fee month in line with the field off the list, and the category floor keeps a median over one or two peers from qualifying a row. It is a screen for further reading, not a signal to act on.
Where does bridged value come from and why are Ethereum and Solana missing from it?
From L2Beat's value secured per scaling chain, split into native, canonical and external; Base leads at $8.23B. Settled L1s have no host chain and therefore no bridged balance to report, so they appear in the TVL and stablecoin columns only.
Can I get this data as a file or over an API?
Yes. The rows of this page are one JSON payload at /api/capital (chains, tokens, perp DEXes, open interest, divergences; cached five minutes). Two daily JSON files hold one point per UTC day per chain and per token (valuation/history.json and chains/history.json on kv.openchainbench.com), every bench has a /api/stat endpoint, and the MCP server answers PromQL over the same gauges for ranges up to 90 days. All of it is CC BY 4.0.
