Avalanche C-Chain uses Snowman++ consensus and reaches finality at 1.0 s (p50, 24h). The Avalanche family targets sub-second finality through a sampled-voting protocol that converges with high probability after a few rounds of random validator queries. Measured from the block's own millisecond production timestamp to the moment it reaches us as `latest` over WebSocket. Since the 22 September 2026 upgrade the C-Chain runs Streaming Asynchronous Execution (ACP-194): a block is final when consensus accepts it, and the `finalized` RPC tag now means settled, a fixed 5 seconds later. Timing `latest` to `finalized` read about 6 s from that afternoon and was measuring the settlement delay, not finality; this figure replaced it on 24 October 2026.
