Algorand finality time
As of November 3, 2026, Algorand finality time is 2.8 s at the median (p50, 24h window), with 2.8 s at p90 and 2.9 s at p99. Algorand ranks #11 of 18 chains measured on this benchmark.
Algorand has no unfinalized head: a node has a block only once its round is certified, so a block is final the moment it appears. The proposal for the next round starts once a round is certified, so one round, 2.8 s (p50, 24h), is the time from a block's proposal to its certification. Measured on our own clock as the interval between consecutive rounds returned by algod's `wait-for-block-after` long poll. Block timestamps are whole seconds, too coarse to time this from the chain.
